Our Privacy Commitment

SkiCoach is built on a foundation of privacy. Your skiing data stays on your device. The app is designed to work 100% offline.

This page has two parts: Part A covers this website (analytics + the SkiCoach 2.0 waitlist). Part B covers the SkiCoach mobile app (current v1.x and upcoming v2.0).

Part A · Website

Website Analytics (Plausible)

We use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics service hosted in the EU. It collects aggregate, anonymous data:

• Page views, referrers, country (no city, no IP stored)
• Browser and device type (Chrome / Safari / iOS / Android — no fingerprinting)
• No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers

Plausible cannot identify individuals. You don't need to consent to it because no personal data is processed.

SkiCoach 2.0 Waitlist

If you join the SkiCoach 2.0 waitlist, we store the minimum data needed to notify you at launch:

📧 Email address — required, to send your launch notification and reward code.
🌍 Region (optional) — only if you type it, to help us plan localization.
🔤 Preferred language — auto-detected from the page (EN, DE, FR, or IT).
🎟️ Referral code — if you arrived via a referral link, to credit the referrer.
🔒 Hashed IP — SHA-256 hash only, for anti-spam rate limiting. Cannot be reversed to a real IP.
🕐 Signup timestamp — to calculate your position on the waitlist.

What We DON'T Do With Your Email

❌ We DO NOT sell, share, or transfer your email to any third party
❌ We DO NOT use third-party marketing platforms that track opens or clicks
❌ We DO NOT use advertising cookies or tracking pixels
❌ We DO NOT build advertising audiences or behavioural profiles
❌ We DO NOT contact you beyond launch updates (max 3 emails before launch)

Legal Basis & Retention

• Legal basis: Your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) via the opt-in checkbox on the signup form.
• Where stored: SQLite database on an EU server (Hostinger, Lithuania/Germany). Data never leaves the EU/EEA.
• Retention: Email deleted within 14 days after launch (around late September 2026) unless you opt into the SkiCoach newsletter separately in the launch email.
• Withdraw consent: Email privacy@skicoach.app anytime — we delete within 72 hours.

Part B · SkiCoach App

What The App DOES NOT Collect

❌ No location tracking on our servers
❌ No analytics or tracking by default (see Optional Analytics below for v2.0)
❌ No data shared with third parties
❌ No account creation required
❌ No skiing data uploaded anywhere

What Stays On Your Device

All of the following is stored ONLY on your device:

✓ GPS tracks of your ski runs
✓ Speed, altitude, and sensor data
✓ Edge Control, Turn Quality, Speed Score, and all analysis
✓ Personal records and statistics
✓ App preferences and settings

How The App Works

SkiCoach processes everything locally:

1 Sensors: GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, and barometer record your run
2 On-device AI: Edge Control, Turn Quality, and all analysis runs on your phone
3 Local storage: All sessions saved in the app's private SQLite database
4 No internet required: The app works fully in airplane mode

Data You Control

📤 Export

Export anytime in CSV, GPX, or JSON format.

🗑️ Delete

Delete all data anytime through app settings.

☁️ Backup

Device backups are controlled by YOUR settings.

Payment Processing

When you purchase a tier (current v1.x: PRO €19.99 — or v2.0: Season Pass €19.99, PRO Lifetime €39.99, ELITE Lifetime €69.99, Snowboard Add-on €9.99):

• Apple App Store or Google Play processes the payment
• We receive only a confirmation receipt (no card or bank details)
• Your payment information is handled solely by Apple/Google under their respective privacy policies

Optional Analytics (v2.0)

SkiCoach 2.0 introduces an opt-in, anonymized analytics feature. It is OFF by default. If you turn it on in Settings:

• Only aggregate session metrics are sent (overall score, run duration, sport mode — ski or snowboard)
• No GPS coordinates, no email, no device identifier, no user ID
• Sent to our own endpoint at skicoach.app/api/analytics.php hosted in the EU — never to third parties
• Enables the Anonymized Benchmarking feature (ELITE tier) so you can compare your score against the season cohort
• You can disable it anytime in Settings; already-sent data is fully anonymized and cannot be linked back to you

Children's Privacy

The app does not collect personal data and can be used by skiers of all ages under parental supervision. The website waitlist is intended for users 16+ (GDPR consent age varies by country, but 16 is a safe minimum across the EU).

GDPR Rights

✓ Right to Access: Request a copy of your waitlist entry as JSON
✓ Right to Delete: Full erasure within 72 hours of request
✓ Right to Export: Both website data (JSON) and app data (CSV, GPX, JSON)
✓ Right to Object: No processing beyond the purposes listed above
✓ Right to Complain: Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde)
✓ Data Minimization: Only what's necessary, nothing more
